Choosing A Reputable Hosting Company

April 28, 2009

bonnie-avatar2     Choosing a host for your website can be a daunting task, especially with so many companies available.  We have been using Network Solutions for several years with great success.

You may find other companies available that appear cheaper on the first look, but in the long run, many times they are not.  If you have to pay for every little additional add-on or service, charges can add up fast.

Why do I prefer Network Solutions?  When I have a question regarding something on any of our sites, I can call and talk to a live tech support person who will help me with any questions or changes until I understand the process.

When I have a questions, I want an answer “NOW”, and don’t want to wait for an email that may be answered in a few days as with some of the hosting companies.  I don’t want to be charged for asking for help building my site or making changes.  Network Solutions works with you every step of the way whether you’ve purchased a domain name, hosting package, or eCommerce site.  They are definitely there for you after the sale.  Their pricing is very affordable and quite in line with today’s hosting companies.

Are you looking for a good hosting package?  Why not take advantage of this special promotion available right now  Free Domain With Annual Hosting Plan!

Or, if you’re only looking for a domain name, use this link for 20% off on any new domain name. 20% off New Domains with code PCXXX02736 at NetworkSolutions.com

Go forth and join the internet revolution!

bonnie-avatar2Free Photo Hosting Sites

Whether you’re selling on eBay, blogging, sending newsletters or have your own website, you may be looking for a place where you can host all of your photos without costing a bundle of money.  We have two excellent sites that will host your photos for FREE!

The most popular site is found at http://www.flickr.com which allows you to make your photos available to the public or kept private.  They also offer other various services to make your photo hosting fun for you and your friends.  The other site we suggest is found at http://www.upmyphoto.com which offers bulk uploads of your photos through a zip file process.  Great for making photo albums to share with your friends.

Both of these sites are absolutely FREE!  If you have other sites to suggest, please leave a comment and share your knowledge with us.

Growing Your Business with Twitter

April 16, 2009

bonnie-avatar2After reading all about the new social media marketing info from the Media Mavens, I finally joined FaceBook and Twitter.  I had no idea these were such large forums and exploding fast.

I met lots of new people on FaceBook and Twitter, but wasn’t sure how to manage all of the posts, people, and especially my time.  And how could I really get people to buy my products?  I have a business to run that does take up a good part of the day, so how was I supposed to spend time chatting with new found friends?

Twitter is the format that has really caught my attention.  Imagine a forum where you can get people to your blogs or ecommerce sites!  Imagine building new links back to your sites for improved page ranks!  Imagine turning those new found friends in to new found customers!  I found it all right here!

Arcadia Software Won’t Cost You A Cent

April 13, 2009

bonnie-avatar2While transfering some old VHS tapes to my PC, I discovered that the audio from the VHS tapes was old and not as balanced as I would have liked.  I found some free open source software from Arcadia that will remix tapes, MP3s, videos, etc. and can be useful when recording podcasts as well.  What will they think of next?  http://www.AVS4you.com

My husband was looking for a good headset for working with his new Dragon Naturally Speaking software, since the one that came with the package was uncomfortalbe on his ears.  I got a super little headset that is especially suited for the Dragon software, as well as great for recording podcasts, Skype or any of the other internet telephony or sound applications.  Check it out here.  And even better for me, I realized that this headset would work very well with the new Arcadia software I just downloaded.  Very versitile!

audio400dsHubby says this particular headset is really comfortable and the quality is especially good.  I wouldn’t expect anything less from Plantronics, but it’s always a matter of taste.  If hubby is happy – all is well with the world.

Twitter Can Build Organic Links

April 11, 2009

I subscribe to many business newsletters, and have been trying to get more organic links back to our site.

We have recently joined Twitter, but it wasn’t until I read an article this morning from Eric Ward, a contributor to WebPro News, that made me realize how valuable Twitter can be in creating organic back links to your site.  Eric gives some great suggestions on how to accomplish this.

There are also some good ideas in the comments section after the article.

For the complete article click here.  Social media is definitely on the move!

Marketing with the Media Mavens

April 9, 2009

tn_htsicover_1What are you doing to increase your business in these hard times?  Recently, I borrowed a book entitled How to Say It: Marketing with New Media written by Lena Claxton and Alison Woo known as the Media Mavens.  I was so impressed with their ideas and strategies that I purchased my own book, so I could highlight those ideas I wanted to put in to practice.

Lena and Alsion offer many suggestions on increasing your business by using Websites, E-zines (newsletters), Blogs and Podcasts.  Their book is filled with ideas, suggested websites and motivation which can help even the smallest business grow and succeed in any environment.

I don’t subscribe to many e-zines, but theirs is definitely worth a read.  They can be found at www.newmediamavens.com.  This book is also available at Amazon and other notable booksellers.  If you’re looking for help that can make a real difference in the way you conduct your business, this is a must read.

I Want Some ‘Good’ News!

April 5, 2009

bonnie-avatar2It’s early Sunday morning, and I’m writing this post as I listen to the news in the background.  It seems that it is all doom and gloom.  From the worrisome news about North Korea and their missle launch to the current worries the country is feeling over jobs, security and money.  And anything on the political front is negative regarless of which side you’re on.

How about sharing a happy thought or story today?  The very fact that I didn’t see my name in the newspaper ‘s obituaries starts my day off with a smile.  So far, no one in our family has called to complain, got a divorce, or needs money.  This is going to be a great day.

I’m going to the jazz jam which is held once a month in our county and sing my little heart out.  It’s a special day today because there is a member who is celebrating his 95th birthday and still plays the sax.  I hope if I ever reach his age, I can still warble out a song or two.

No business today – actually taking the day off.  Even my desk is organized and clean.  Time to feed the mutts.  At the moment – life is good.
